  Should I Install Per-machine or Per-user? It is important to understand that Teams currently updates on a bi-weekly basis with Microsoft. Teams users on VDI can now manage Teams calls and meetings in a separate pop-out window, allowing them to use the main Teams client while a call. MST to install Microsoft Teams MSI (VDI) to regular Windows Microsoft has finally released Microsoft Teams installer that installs all files to Program.

We currently use persistent VDI's and are looking to switch to non-persistent for some users. The issue we are running into is that Teams can't be installed on the template, since it is user specific. We can run a script that installs Teams upon login, but it has to run at every login on the non-persistent VDI's otherwise Teams won't work. We don't want to have to install it every time a user logs in.

Is there a way to deploy Teams on the VDI tempalte in a non-persistent VDI environment so that it works for all users who login without a fresh install?

As you mentioned that you can have a script to get it done, you can contact Microsoft MSDN forum which mainly focuses on the development related issues for help. On another hand, any customer who have the similar experience is welcomed to share something here.

This is not the way how to run Teams on Horizon. I get this question a lot. Looks like the marketing department of Citrix invested a lot of effort to spread the word that VMware Horizon is not certified by Microsoft to run Teams. Is that really so? Something we did for a long time for Skype for Business.

As companies are shifting to Teams we are shifting as well. The truth is VMware solution is not yet certified but does it really matter? Teams is application as any other — it will run on Horizon virtual desktop. What you need to do is run a machine-wide installer, which will install Teams normally to Program Files folder.
